First CanopyStyle audit completed for Metsä Group’s Kuura textile fibre

Parallel to the production process development taking place in our demo plant in Finland and the work to interact with potential customers led by Japanese ITOCHU Corporation, the Kuura concept has recently undergone its first CanopyStyle audit. CanopyStyle is an environmental initiative launched and managed by the not-for-profit environmental organisation Canopy. The CanopyStyle initiative is focusing on the textile and fashion industry and it aims, among other things, to conserve the world’s remaining ancient and endangered forests, as well as to protect the biodiversity of forests and climate. Please read more about Canopy and CanopyStyle at canopyplanet.org.

The audit report by Preferred by Nature can be opened here.

“We value highly getting third-party views of our unique Kuura concept. Although our concept is still in the demonstration phase, we feel it is important to already now understand the impacts of producing Kuura fibre, from different viewpoints. The report’s recommendations will guide our work moving forward”, says Niklas von Weymarn, CEO of Metsä Group’s innovation company Metsä Spring.
